Everything you need to know about Jewellery Safes

Jewellery safes can be used to protect valuables from potential theft. Whether you have necklaces, bracelets, watches or gold you want to conceal, there are many jewellery safes available to buy.

Jewellery can be very personal to us and can have a lot of sentimental value. Keeping it in a safe will give you peace of mind knowing that it is secure and protected.

If you plan to insure your jewellery, your insurance provider will tell you what requirements you will need to insure your jewellery. If they advise you to buy a safe, they will tell you what requirements the safe will need. Before purchasing any safe, please check with your insurance to see if the safe is suitable.

If it is jewellery you are protecting, it is best to look at the Valuables Rating on a safe. This is otherwise known as Jewellery Cover. This determines the value of the contents you can put into the safe. By understanding how much your valuables are worth will help you to choose the correct safe.

For example, if you have 3 watches that are worth £20,000 altogether, they will need to be kept in a safe that has a valuables rating/ jewellery rating of at least £20,000. If more valuables went into the safe exceeding the valuables rating/jewellery rating, your insurance will not cover those additional valuables.

Make sure you purchase an Insurance Approved Safe otherwise your insurance provider may not except it. All insurance approved safes will be marked with this logo

Just like other safes, jewellery safes have many locking options; standard key lock, electronic lock, finger print lock, combination lock and dual lock. Click here to read more about locking options for safes.

Jewellery safes tend to be smaller in size, with the intention of being stored in hard-to-find places.

Unsure where to fit your jewellery safe? We always recommend having a safe in a place that is out of sight and hidden away.

Installing a jewellery safe will meet your insurers requirements and provides added security to your valuables. Here at Total Safes, we offer an installation service for all our safes. Click here to find out more information about this service.

Make sure your jewellery safe is bolted against a solid wall or solid floor to ensure it is secured into place. If you do decide to have the safe installed in a wardrobe, make sure it is bolted to a solid wall or solid floor as this is much more secure than installing the safe to a part of a wardrobe.

If you would like more information about our jewellery safes or our installation services, you can drop up as an email at support@totalsafes.co.uk or give us a call on 0161 819 6888
